STRUCTUREAND PROPERTY OF DIRECTIONALLY SOLIDIFIED EUTECTIC Bi/MnBi ALLOY

Eutectic Bi/MnBi magnetic alloy was prepared by directional solidification.When the growth rate,R>2 cm/h,the MnBi fibre spacing,λ,distributed homogeneously in Bi matrix,follows λ~2R=constant.The thermal gradient.G_L,does not influence λ.The magnetic property,B_r of Bi/MnBi alloy decreases with the increase of R and increases with the increase of G_L.

22Cr High-Mn-N Low-Ni Economical Duplex Stainless Steels

A new family of economical duplex stainless steels in which N or Mn was substituted for Ni with composition of 22Cr-80Mn-xNi-10Mo-07Cu-07W-03N (x=05-20) have been developed by examining the microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of these alloys. The results show that these alloys have a balanced ferrite-austenite relation. In addition, the alloys are free of precipitation of sigma phase and Cr-nitride when solution-treated at 750 to 1300 ℃ for 30 min. The yield strength, tensile strength and fracture elongation values of experimental alloys solution-treated at 1050 ℃ for 30 min are about 500, 750 MPa and 400%, respectively. Low-temperature impact properties can be improved distinctly with the increase of nickel content. Among the designed DSS alloys, the alloy with Ni of 20% is found to be an optimum alloy with proper phase proportion, better low-temperature impact properties and higher pitting corrosion resistance compared with those of other alloys. The mechanical and corrosion properties and lower production cost of the designed DSSs are better than those of AISI 304.

A New Resource-Saving, High Chromium and Manganese Super Duplex Stainless Steels 29Cr-12Mn-2Ni-1Mo-xN

A new family of resource-saving, high chromium and manganese super duplex stainless steels (DSSs), with a composition in mass percent, % of Cr 0.29, Mn 0.12, Ni 2.0, Mo 1.0, and N 0.51-0.68, has been developed by examining the effect of N on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion properties. The results show that these alloys have a balanced ferrite-austenite relation. The austenite volume fraction decreases with the solution treatment temperature, but it increases with an increase in N content. The increases in nitrogen enhance the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and reduce the ductility of the material slightly. The pitting corrosion potential increases first and then decreases with an increase in nitrogen content when the amount of N arrives to 0.68%. The yield stress and ultimate tensile strength of solution-treated samples were more than 680 and 900 MPa, the elongation of experimental alloys are higher than 30%, respectively, what is more, the pitting potentials were beyond 1100 mV.

Effect of Heating Rate on Microstructure Evolution and Magnetic Properties of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Electrical Steel

The effects of rapid heating (heating rate ranging from 15℃/s to 300℃/s) during the final annealing process on microstructure evolution and magnetic properties of cold rolled non-oriented electrical steel had been investigated. It was found that the heating rate increasing could cause the substantially refined structures for the recrystallization grains and this grain refinement would decline when the heating rate beyond 50℃/s. The recrystallization texture exhibited pronounced improvement with hearting rate, such as the intensity decrease of {111}//ND fiber and the intensity increase of {110}<100> Goss component. The texture improvement and grain size refinement caused by heating rate increasing resulted in complicated variation of the magnetic properties. The magnetic induction (B50) keeps increasing while the heating rate increasing from 15℃/s to 300℃/s and the core losses variation (P1.5/50) is reverse, but it begins to increase when the heating rate ranges from 100 to 300℃/s. The results indicate that recrystallization texture and the magnetic properties of the non-oriented electrical steel have been improved definitely by the rapid heating during the final annealing treatment.

Properties and Microstructure of OneStep Cold Rolled Steel Strip for Shadow Mask

The effect of recrystallization annealing temperature on the properties and microstructure of onestep cold rolled steel strip for shadow mask was studied. The results showed that there was no yield point elongation when the tensile tests were performed on the samples for annealing temperatures ranging from 750 ℃ to 810 ℃. Moreover, increasing annealing temperature resulted in large grains, which was beneficial to the formability and magnetic property of steel strips. On the other hand, when the sample was annealed at 840 ℃, its microstructure showed ununiformity with 004% yield point elongation, which was not good for the function of the shadow mask. Therefore, the proper recrystallization annealing temperature was about 810 ℃ for the present steel strip for shadow mask.
